Los Angeles artist Lauren Halsey is celebrated worldwide for her authentic celebrations of community. A 2021 recipient of the Gwendolyn Knight and Jacob Lawrence Prize for outstanding contemporary artists, Halsey’s work was recently featured in a solo exhibition at the Seattle Art Museum. She’s just as passionate about empowering the next generation. With support from East West Bank, she opened the Summaeverythang Community Center adjacent to her art studio in South Los Angeles, which provides food distribution, homework support and art programs to help neighborhood youth Reach Further.
