A Swing Towards Greatness

DECEMBER 9, 2024

The East West Bank Foundation recently teamed up with First Tee of Greater Pasadena, a youth development organization that introduces young people to golf while teaching essential life skills, to host a unique day of learning and fun for Pasadena Police Activities League (PAL) students.

Held at Brookside Golf Club, the event offered middle and high school PAL students a memorable first experience with the game of golf. Under the guidance of First Tee’s skilled coaches, students learned the basics—how to hold a club, refine their swing, and navigate the course—all while discovering the deeper lessons golf teaches about patience, focus, and perseverance.

First Tee of Greater Pasadena’s mission is about more than just golf; it’s about building character, instilling life-enhancing values, and encouraging healthy choices. For these students, the clinic was an opportunity to practice both new skills and important life lessons, like respect, honesty, and courtesy.

Following the golf clinic, East West Bank volunteers led an engaging financial literacy session, introducing students to foundational money management skills. The interactive lesson focused on key topics like understanding checking accounts and making sound financial decisions—empowering students to plan for brighter, more secure futures.

This special partnership gave PAL students not only their first swing at golf but also valuable tools to build confidence, foster responsibility, and aim for greatness both on and off the course.
